Designed for Glenn Kotche, American drummer and composer: created to be the cover sheet to all Kotche's original scores. Inspired by both Kotche's own drum notation and his desire for a minimalist look, this design uses shapes in place of tradition notation symbols.

Using the same pattern in repetition to create abstraction, shapes seem to float into and away from each other echoing the idea of sound and its ability to "be" and then cease to exist. The use of gradients and pointillism create texture and movement within the bold, minimalist design. The pattern's ability to imitate drum notation and sound creates a satisfying and balanced ambiguity that works well for all of Kotche's sheet music, regardless of the score that awaits on the subsequent pages.
